What is SSL ?

Secure Sockets Layer, SSL, is the standard security technology for creating an encrypted link between a web server and a browser. This link ensures that all data passed between the web server and browser remain private and integral. SSL is an industry standard and is used by millions of websites in the protection of their online transactions with their customers. In order to be able to generate an SSL link (https), a web server requires an SSL Certificate and when installed, can be used to create secure links to protect transactions, passwords, personal details, etc. When you have a secure connection you will also see that a the URL changes from http:// to https:// and a small gold padlock has appeared in the status bar of your browser.

In order to use your own SSL with your domain name, such as this,

you must upgrade your account to "dedicated ip address" and you must obtain a secure server certificate from a Certificate Authority ("CA"). There is no fee to create the CSR required to order a secure server certificate , and no fee to install/update your SSL certificate. You have only to pay the certificate from your preferred Certificate Authority ("CA") . All the steps required to setup an SSL certificate are explained below .

1. Login in your client area , open a ticket support and ask to upgrade your account to dedicated ip address ($20.00/year)
2. Our technical support will setup the dedicated ip address and provide you a CERTIFICATE REQUEST (CSR) required to order a secure server certificate from a Certificate Authority ("CA"). There is no extra fee to generate a CERTIFICATE REQUEST (CSR).

3. Now you can contact your preferred Certificate Authority and order a secure server certificate for Apache-ModSSL using our CERTIFICATE REQUEST(CSR).

4. Once you have received the certificate from the Certificate Authority, login in your client area, open a ticket and send your SSL certificate to our Support dept.

5. A technician will install your SSL certificate and you can start to use your new SSL address .
   There is no extra fee to install your SSL certificate.
